About this opportunity:
Performs a variety of grounds keeping work in order to maintain the health and beautification of grounds; mows and edges grass, trims trees/shrubs, blows leaves and debris from sidewalks. Perform preventive and ongoing maintenance of athletic fields; monitors and maintains irrigation systems to ensure appropriate functionality. Performs routine repairs and maintenance of buildings and equipment; performs minor painting, plumbing, electrical, and company repair work; loads and unloads merchandise as needed; performs ground keeping work; maintains vehicles; runs errands.

Key responsibilities:

Landscaper Responsibilities:

• Mows and weeds grass; edges lawns, sidewalks, and curbs to ensure beautification of the property and welcoming and safe grounds.
• Rakes, vacuums, and blows leaves and debris from sidewalks and parking lots.
• Closely monitors athletic fields to align with vendor contract and product specifications; adheres to all standards of care to thoroughly maintain turf.
• Performs annual preventative services to include aeration, seeding, and treatment applications.
• Cut down trees; fills holes with dirt; trims trees and bushes; split wood.
• Plants flowers, shrubs, trees, etc., moves flower beds, seeds new grass
• Oversees preventative maintenance of Salvation Army lawn equipment; monitors and replenishes all fluid levels; recommends replacement of equipment whenever necessary and evaluates new equipment for its durability and value.

Building Maintenance Worker Responsibilities:

• Repairs minor plumbing including leaking faucets, clogged drains and toilets
• Repairs and maintains electrical conduit, wiring, switching devices, controls, outlets, lights, motors, and other equipment
• Miscellaneous site/building repairs; floors, walls, ceiling tile, site drainage, painting
• Assembles and moves office furniture including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc.
• Maintains cleanliness of inside and outside of buildings and property
• Monitors vehicles and perform services; checks fluid levels; checks tires and services frequently
• Picks up materials and repair items needed for maintenance work
• Loads and delivers all recyclables to the recycling center as needed
• Load and deliver furniture, supplies, donations, and seasonal products

What are we looking for in you:
• High School diploma or G.E.D., preferably with supplemental courses in lawn care and grounds maintenance, and

• One year’s experience performing ground keeping work, and

• Two years' experience in handling minor repairs and good skill in the use of hand and power tools, or

• Any equivalents combination of formal education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Valid State Driver's License.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Manual dexterity. Ability to perform strenuous heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects. Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.

Duties are usually performed standing. Periods of walking and strenuous work will be relieved by sitting.

Heavy amount of physical effort required associated with walking, stooping, standing, climbing, lifting and carrying moderate to heavy objects (over 50 lbs.) 70-80% of work time.
