The Hospitals of Providence – Sierra Campus 

The Hospitals of Providence Sierra Campus is a multi-location hospital with the main 283-bed acute care facility and a 23-bed surgical specialty facility located at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, providing health care services not only to El Paso, but to the outlying communities of west Texas, southern New Mexico and to its international neighbors in northern Mexico. The hospital is part of the largest healthcare system in the Region with four (4) acute-care hospitals and over 50 access points across the area. 

The Hospitals of Providence Sierra Campus specializes in high acute services to include                    advanced cardiac care, which includes a comprehensive structural heart program. The hospital houses a 12-bed Neuro Intensive Care Unit and 24 bed Intensive Care Unit. Sierra is the only hospital in the Region capable of performing TAVR and Mitral Clip procedures, plus performs open heart surgical cases, an advanced neurosciences program, including neurological  and brain surgery capabilities, and dedicated orthopedic and spine surgery programs. The Hospitals of Providence Sierra Campus is designated as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and received the HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence by the American College of Cardiology.

Sierra Campus also offers advanced health care services in general surgery, gastroenterology/endoscopy, and houses a 24-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit. Sierra also offers minimally invasive robotic surgery with the MAKO robot, Intuitive Da Vinci, and Stealth Spinal Navigation...

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Chief Operating Officer has responsibility for day-to-day operations of the facility and related services, ensuring that staff delivers high-quality, cost-effective care and services with a positive margin. The Chief Operating Officer will promote the facility’s position and image; reflective of the mission, standards and values of the facility, Tenet and the communities served.

FUNCTIONAL EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: 

The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for providing strong leadership, direction, and assistance in setting strategy with clearly defined expectations. He/she leads the development of progressive physician/facility strategies and executes plans to optimize the long-term potential of the facility.

  • Display strong business acumen, a sophisticated knowledge of healthcare funding, and experience in competitive marketplaces with the ability to make complex and difficult decisions.
  • Establish a plan to address productivity, operational performance, staff retention and satisfaction.
