Opportunity at a Glance
The Associate Dean of General Education (ADGE) directs and provides leadership for all campus level General Education faculty to ensure faculty and curricula are current and consistently delivered in an environment and manner that achieves superior student outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a role model and mentor general education faculty and students in areas of academic and service excellence, collaboration, communication and professionalism.
  • Conduct classroom, lab, and Learning Management Systems (LMS) observations each session.
  • Ensure regular meetings of general education faculty to facilitate communication and participation in planning, implementing and evaluation of the curriculum.
  • Solicit recommendations from general education faculty for academic budget.
  • Supervise general education faculty and provides appropriate mentoring, coaching and feedback regarding performance.
  • Conduct annual individual performance evaluation of the faculty.
  • Initiate recruitment, selection, orientation, and onboarding of general education faculty.
  • Ensure curricula are current and consistently delivered in an environment and manner that achieves superior student outcomes and provides direction to science faculty on strategies to improve student engagement, performance, and retention.
  • Share feedback on course objectives and content gained from students, faculty, and other staff members - with appropriate leadership for quality improvement of the curriculum.
  • Ensure meaningful assessment of student achievement, e.g., exams, projects, cases, occurs at the end of each course and for continuous course improvement that meet course objectives.
  • Lead or support science curriculum and course review, assessment, improvement, development, and implementation, including updates, revisions, and redevelopments as needed.
  • Participate in various committees as assigned and provide input for policy development that impacts program academics; communicate with academic committees to ensure that appropriate goals and projects are implemented.
  • Provide leadership in the identification and application of student support and tracking processes to improve retention, persistence, and academic outcomes.
  • Prepare, evaluate, and communicate student success metrics to campus and national leaders, including student retention, student achievement of learning outcomes, and student satisfaction, and work with team members to ensure superior student outcomes.
  • Serve as a leader and model in developing and promoting retention strategies.
  • Actively participate in campus retention committees and leadership calls.
  • Work across teams to support campus retention, persistence, and academic success efforts.
  • Work across teams to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of program and course delivery, faculty operations, laboratory operations, and academic support services as assigned.
  • Support institutional leadership in projects or responsibilities as assigned.
  • May teach up to 12 credits per academic year based on need.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
