Senior HPC/LDAP administrator - R&D HPC team - Austin, US

This is what you will do as HPC DevOps engineer at NXP

You are expected to work very closely with your global colleagues within R&D IT and help deliver the LDAP & HPC services (High Performance Computing and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) to our engineering and R&D customers. Your AMEC team has operational responsibility for all designated services within the region and help provide backup support to our other two regions, (EMEA and APAC), when necessary to ensure good coverage and fast response for any issues requiring attention. Your work will be combination of development and operations.

Your responsibilities:

  • Having knowledge and hands on experience on specific Grid computing applications like LSF, Univa Grid, Slurm, etc would be a plus.
  • Experience in AD  & LDAP administration (design, implementation, and support) is required.
  • Oversee the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of Linux systems and services & ensure system performance, reliability, and security through proactive monitoring and optimization
  • Develop and maintain system configurations, base images, and deployment strategies
  • Create and enforce policies and standards related to Linux system administration, security, and compliance & develop best practices for system configuration, access methods, and base image creation
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, policies, and procedures and prepare reports & updates for management on project status, system performance, and security posture
  • participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical Linux systems and services
  • You build/maintain the self-service platform built on Python.
  • You build/maintain CI/CD pipelines that help deploy the latest changes quickly.
  • Having experience in the following areas will be a big plus
  • Performance tuning of OUD (Oracle Unified Directory)and testing
  • Custom reports with complex LDAP search filters
  • Directory schema modifications
  • Performing mass user updates
  • Backup and restore OUD data

You can describe yourself as follows:

  • Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in Software Engineering or Computer Science
  • Very good understanding of LDAP, preferably Oracle Unified Directory (OUD)
  • Red Hat certified System Administrator certification
  • AWS system architect certification
  • Five years of experience working on large DevOps implementations and operations
  • Solid DevOps mindset and ability to evaluate and optimize DevOps processes and practice using Lean or Agile.
  • Proficiency with maintaining automation and configuration management using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, AWS CodeDeploy
  • Deep understanding of Linux operating systems, networking, and server management and use tools such as PowerShell, Bash, Ansible.
  • Great problem-solving and analytical skillset to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues that may arise and use tools such as Splunk, Grafana, or Prometheus to monitor and analyze the performance and health of the systems that you support
  • Understanding of identity and access management relating to provisioning, access control, and certifications
  • Familiar with CI/CD tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, or Terraf
