Are you an expert in metering systems and SCADA integration looking for a high-impact role? We are seeking a Senior Metering & SCADA Engineer to lead advanced technical initiatives related to metering, regulatory compliance, and system optimization at APS. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and regulatory alignment of our metering and revenue gathering systems, directly contributing to operational excellence and market participation.

 

What your day would be like:

You are responsible for:

• SCADA & Metering Integration – Lead the execution of SCADA and metering initiatives, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
• Regulatory Compliance & Standards – Apply expertise in metering regulations, including California ISO (CAISO) and the Energy Imbalance Market (EIM), to ensure compliance and system accuracy.
• Technical Leadership – Act as a subject matter expert, providing innovative solutions to complex challenges in metering technology, data acquisition, and grid modernization.
• System Optimization & Troubleshooting – Analyze, diagnose, and implement improvements for metering accuracy, data integrity, and operational efficiency.
• Strategic Decision-Making – Provide expert guidance to leadership, influencing critical business and engineering decisions with deep technical insights.

Minimum Requirements

Senior Metering & SCADA Integration Engineer 

• Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline (see approved list) from an ABET accredited institution, an International Engineering Alliance (IEA) recognized institution or an ABET Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA)
• PLUS eight (8) years working experience in Engineering-related positions.

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:

• Problem analysis/resolution techniques.
• Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, practices, methods and safety standards in the area of applicable engineering discipline.
• Experience in the utility industry.
• Experience in nuclear industry for jobs at Palo Verde.
• Professional Engineer licensure.

 

Approved degrees: Materials Science/Metallurgy, Physics, Chemistry, Math, Nuclear, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Electronics, Computer Science, Environmental, Chemical, Architectural, Structural. (A four-year bachelor of Engineering Technology degree is not considered an automatic equivalent for a B.S. degree in Engineering. A review of the degree program curriculum must be completed by Engineering department management.)

1) Develops and applies unique solutions and applications to a broad range of technical metering issues and problems (solutions that typically require original and creative approaches).
Makes decisions and recommendations that have a moderate to significant effect on the overall organization performance. Also develops philosophies and maintains requirements related to metering.
