Job Summary: 

Provide team based accounting support for the Global Controller Department.  Major responsibilities include account analysis and research for contributions receivable, bank reconciliations, and other assigned accounts as well as for related financial reporting.  Employee will provide key service through the ongoing monitoring of financial information to assist the Global Controller Department with reporting of financial results, compliance of CRS policies and procedures and donor regulations.

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounting for contributions revenue and contributions receivable, including bequests, charitable trust, and the CRS Collection.
  • Review bequest receivable calculations and charitable trust information provided by the Charitable Giving department and reconcile monthly receivable to the general ledger. Prepare monthly analysis and reconciliation.
  • Responsible for accounting for multiple Agency bank accounts, including concentration, monetization and foreign currency bank accounts and coordination with Global Treasury staff. Complete daily cash activity worksheets. Maintain and update the incoming wire log for the Agency. Prepare and record journal entries, based on daily/monthly activity. 
  • Post daily cash receipts and corresponding GL coding in the receivables subledger. Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Responsible for accounting for interest rate swap, line of credit, letter of credit, note payable including journal entries and monthly reconciliations.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of assigned balance sheet and related revenue and expenditure accounts, including unidentified revenue.
  • Calculate assigned accruals.  Prepare and record related journal entries.
  • Collaborate with staff in various departments including Charitable Giving, Treasury, Global People Resources, Mission & Mobilization, as well as overseas colleagues to ensure appropriate accounting for various transactions.
  • Assist colleagues in responding to financial information requests. Assist internal and external auditors with financial information requests and supporting documentation.
  • Analyze monthly and quarterly fluctuations in assigned accounts for internal reporting and propose necessary adjusting entries.
  • Perform other related tasks and ad hoc projects, as required.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of 4-6 years accounting experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant or current candidate for CPA exam

Required Languages - Fluency in written and spoken English.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Deadline compliance and management of multiple priorities
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly spreadsheet experience and experience with Microsoft Office
  • Strong computer and analytical skills
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

  • Internal: All headquarters departments and domestic and international staff.
  • External: External auditors, vendors, etc.
