WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Water and Wastewater Acumen: You will understand water and wastewater treatment systems in the protein industry like no other. You will be responsible for ensuring environmental compliance and developing innovative methods for efficient treatment across potable water and wastewater treatment at Smithfield Facilities across the US. You will be the subject matter expert in wastewater operations pretreatment, anaerobic, aeration (including Biological Nutrient Removal - BNR), and disinfection. As EHS Director, Regulatory – Water and Wastewater Treatment, you will be working with facilities to improve data driven decision making to improve efficiency and reduce costs while ensuring 100% compliance.
Safety and Environmental Compliance with Federal Regulations and Corporate Requirements: You will assist Senior EHS Directors in establishing and maintaining compliance with applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations, as well as other corporate requirements. You will also assist Regional EHS Managers in maintaining a safe working environment, ensuring the uniform application of EHS programs, promoting best practices, and maintaining compliance with regulatory agencies surrounding our wastewater operations.
Corporate Program Development and Administration: You will assist in developing and implementing corporate policy, programs, and training materials. You will ensure the effective implementation of corporate programs at assigned facilities. Additionally, you will participate in corporate training and business meetings as appropriate.
Internal and External Inspections and Audits: You will ensure our wastewater facilities are always inspection/audit ready for internal or external stakeholders and assist facilities in addressing and closing out findings. Acting as a resource for Regional EHS Managers and facilities, you will develop effective and innovative solutions to ensure a safe and compliant workplace and foster a proactive EHS culture. Additionally, you will lead regulatory compliance disputes, including those with OSHA, EPA, the Chemical Safety Board, and other regulatory and government agencies during inspections, citation, and penalty processes, coordinating with internal and external legal teams.

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 10+ years relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience,
