About the role

Who we are looking for

The Chief Data Office is recruiting a Director of Data Governance Regulatory Initiatives to drive key regulatory initiatives being managed within the CDO data governance team in collaboration with key stakeholders across the enterprise.

What you will be responsible for

As Director of Data Governance Regulatory Initiatives, you will:

  • Lead the evaluation of data-related regulations, guidelines, and related regulatory obligations and facilitate engagement with key stakeholders to determine applicability to State Street’s businesses and determine alignment with relevant policies, and control standards.
  • Actively engage with CDO colleagues, other enterprise functions, and business units to review data related regulatory obligations and define assurance/controls frameworks needed to operationalize a sustainable compliance model for relevant data management regulations.
  • Develop enterprise level implementation plans for executing regulatory requirement assessments, development of frameworks, accountability model, policy, and control standards.   
  • Design oversight framework and oversee status reporting on data governance regulatory initiatives to applicable governance committees including Data Governance Board, Enterprise Data Management Committee.
  • Build and maintain cross-functional relationships with various Enterprise stakeholders including, compliance, enterprise risk, privacy office, information security (cybersecurity), business risk and business unit leaders to ensure their support and collaboration

  • Understanding of regulations that have data management focus
  • Understanding of data management and data governance concepts (previous experience in data governance, master data management domains is a plus).
  • Understanding of assurance/control frameworks
  • Excellent communication skills and influencing capabilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in managing remotely multiple projects on top of regular activities.
  • Strong cultural awareness and ability to operate in diverse and dynamic business environment

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of experience in Finance industry, Technology Business, Data Management, Project Management, Business Analysis
  • 5+ years in Data Governance role or in role
