Office of the Dean of Students
Position Summary:
The Office of the Dean of Students (ODoS) is seeking students who are interested in sharing information related to social justice and anti-oppressive knowledge and skill development at McGill. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Students, the Peer Workshop Facilitators will provide assistance with designing and facilitating workshops, administrative support, communications, and other duties as assigned. This position is open to Undergraduate, Masters, and Doctoral students.
The position has a start date of August 1, 2024, and is expected to end by April 30, 2025. Peer Workshop Facilitators will work up to 10 hours per week. While training and onboarding take place in person in August, the job is a mix of in-person and remote work throughout the year.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborate on the design of and deliver workshops and other activities (e.g., panels, webinars, resources)
- Assist with the logistics of the workshops and events, including setup, teardown and supporting the organizing team
- Maintaining effective communication with supervisor and other Peer Workshop Facilitators
- Participating in training and relevant professional development activities
- Assist in the organization and coordination of one-time events or semester-long programs
- Contributing to communications and program promotion via web and social media channels
- Communicating with stakeholders (i.e., University partners, speakers and/or participants)
- Gathering and summarizing information used for planning and evaluation (e.g. interviews, surveys)
- Contribute to the preparation of project documents and reports

- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to take initiative and display leadership skills
- Strong organizational and time management, with the ability to prioritize
- Strong information literacy skills (i.e., ability to define research terms, search online databases, journals, websites, amalgamate information, and critically evaluate resources)
- Ability to work with Office 365 (e.g., Teams, PowerPoint, Excel), Zoom, and social media platforms
- Experience and/or interest working in the domain of diversity, social equity, anti-oppression, and/or social justice, including lived experience
McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #4 on a scale of 0-4.
