Position Overview
The Security Manager provides membership outreach and engagement, supporting the execution of AGA programs and initiatives as they relate to increasing the physical and cyber security of our member’s critical energy infrastructure. This includes logistical support for virtual and in-person meetings and workshops, developing and managing agendas for events, leading committee projects from start to finish, and serving as an ambassador of AGA, its members, and the natural gas industry. A background in energy security policy and high-level understanding of cyber and physical security of natural gas infrastructure are beneficial for this role.
Role and Responsibilities
- Assist with the execution of AGA cyber and physical security programs and initiatives through data collection, analyses, and information dissemination to AGA’s membership.
- Support AGA’s Security Program by capturing metrics, facilitating focus groups, and assisting development and facilitation of the AGA Cyber and Physical Security Focus Groups, and the biennial AGA Natural Gas Exercise (NGX).
- Organize, conduct, and facilitate workshops, conferences, roundtables, webinars, and teleconferences from start to finish.
- Assist with planning, implementation, and facilitation of meetings, roundtables, and the joint AGA/EEI Security Conference; independently developing and executing membership-driven committee projects and workshops; soliciting volunteers; and creating and managing production timelines from start through completion.
- Support the staff executive and work of the AGA Cybersecurity Strategy and Regulatory Action Committee, focusing on energy security policy.
- Maintain AGA security webpages.
- Generate ideas to meet AGA strategic security management objectives, including managing projects within established budgets and timetables, and recognizing and implementing opportunities to generate revenue.
- Represent AGA in government, industry, and other stakeholder technical conferences/workshops, meetings, and other venues with the ability to prepare and deliver presentations in public and industry forums and communicate technical issues (in particular, cybersecurity issues), both orally and in writing, to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Provide support for AGA initiatives, such as technical publications, compiling and adjudicating member company comments in response to government requests, and promoting security initiatives with the ability to collaboratively work on multi-disciplinary teams and integrate diverse opinions into consensus positions.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Have an interest in energy security policy
- Be proficient in Microsoft programs
- Ability to travel domestically for up to 20% of the year meetings and events
- At least four years professional work experience with cyber and physical security.
- Bachelor’s degree in public policy or business-related field
- Understanding of basic cybersecurity-related concepts
- Understanding of basic natural gas operations concepts
Understanding of basic energy (natural gas, oil, electric) security policy
