Are you looking to kick-start your sales career with a structured and immersive learning experience? Merchants Fleet’s Sales Development Program is designed for early-career professionals eager to build a foundation in sales and client engagement. Over 12 to 18 months, you will gain hands-on experience, cross-functional business insights, and sales training that will prepare you for a successful career in sales. Graduates of this program are positioned for roles such as Regional Sales Manager (RSM) or other sales positions with a structured commission plan.
Location: Merchants Fleet Headquarters in Hooksett, NH (On-Site 4 Days Per Week)
Program Duration: 12-18 Months (June 2025 – December 2026)
Travel: Some travel for field experience
FLSA: Hourly (Non-Exempt)
What You’ll Learn & Do
Sales Foundations & Client Engagement
- Develop FleetIQ knowledge through internal training, industry publications, and association involvement.
- Participate in structured sales training sessions led by the Sales Operations team.
- Gain hands-on experience with Salesforce CRM tools under expert guidance.
- Shadow the Product Sales team to deepen product and technology knowledge.
Project-Based Learning & Cross-Functional Shadowing
Gain a 360-degree view of sales by working closely with various departments:
- RFP Processes – Learn best practices in responding to RFPs from the RFP team.
- Marketing – Understand how marketing drives lead generation and supports sales.
- Financial Operations Leasing – Learn lease structuring and financial profitability.
- Credit Assessment – Gain exposure to credit and risk evaluation.
- Client Experience – Observe how we enhance client engagement and implementation.
- Product Teams – Understand how fleet products and services are managed operationally.
- Consulting – Work with Fleet Experts to leverage data for cost savings and benchmarking.
- Remarketing – Shadow the team to learn about post-lease asset remarketing strategies.
Sales Tools & Development
- Build proficiency in Salesforce CRM, pricing tools, and data analytics.
- Engage with incoming leads through Lead Line and Lead Queue.
- Conduct weekly cold-calling sessions, focusing on lead nurturing and handoff techniques.
Performance Tracking & Development
- Complete a Predictive Index assessment to understand your strengths and motivations.
- Participate in Merchants Way of Selling training courses to refine your sales skills.
- Meet bi-weekly with an assigned mentor for ongoing coaching and support.
- Receive quarterly performance reviews to track progress and development.
