Senior Software Engineer - Go / Ruby

• Where in the world? You can work remotely from anywhere in the European Union. Ideally in the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal or the UK. 
• Working hours? For this role, you will operate within Central European Time (CET)
• What language(s) will I speak? Fluency in English

Software Engineers play a key role in our product engineering squads. You’ll be responsible for helping design, develop and maintain software solutions that help marketers from some of the world’s biggest brands to compose and manage email campaigns.

Our product engineering squads have the freedom and authority to create impactful products to empower both our internal and external customers, deploying code multiple times per day while ensuring our applications are rigorously tested and statically analysed.

What you’ll do

• Help design and build quality, scalable and testable software. This includes our main Rails application, supporting microservices, AWS infrastructure and 3rd party APIs.
• Write quality unit and integration tests to give us confidence in our code and protect against regressions. 
• Participate in code reviews and add value in team meetings
• Use observability and logs to debug bugs originating from customer support tickets and internally produced bug reports. 
• Analyse system behaviour and performance issues, develop test cases to reproduce issues and develop fixes for the product to address these issues. 
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams and departments to achieve objectives for the business, customers and product.
• Experience or interest in learning Go.

What you’ll bring

• Significant experience in deploying large-scale production systems.
• Strong understanding and experience working with Ruby & Rails or Go.
• At least 5 years of experience building and deploying high-quality, software products in a team environment.
• Ability and willingness to learn and share knowledge.
• Understanding of agile methodologies and an eagerness to utilise quick feedback loops.
• Outstanding analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with RSpec and other testing frameworks.
• Self-sufficient with a strong sense of ownership.
