What You Will Do:

We are currently searching for Biomedical Property Technician s needed in the Biomedical and Property Section of Materials Management and Environmental Services Department (MMESD) to assist in Property management, management of hardware and software, specifically Information Systems that involve 24/7 live medical monitoring equipment and have automated support for other Information Systems. The contractor will also have experience with the Medical Equipment Management Program (MEMP) to include the accountable Property life cycle.  This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Bethesda, MD.    

  • Prepare written procedures such as internal operating procedures and guidelines.  
  • Process excess inventory for surplus.  
  • Prepare documents for trade-in.  
  • Assist in the process of decaling new accountable and non-accountable property. 
  • Work with staff on the opening, decaling, and delivery of equipment to program areas. 
  • Coordinate with IT specialist on any devices that have been turned in for surplus or from users retiring, being terminated, laid off or who will no longer need the device. 
  • Visually verify that equipment is in its proper location and report findings to both the property custodian and the Inventory Management Officer. 
  • Perform tasks related to property management to maintain proper accountability for personal property records for multiple custodial areas. 
  • Ensure that all property transactions are accurately entered into the Property Management Information System (PMIS) and substantiating documents are created and maintained. 
  • Upload the file from the barcode reader to computer program for the NIH process. 
  • Utilize an electronic property management database to record property transactions. 
  • Utilize Property Management Portal to track status of accountable assets and resolve reported discrepancies. 
  • Maintain computerized inventory system; record relevant information including serial numbers, model numbers, manufacturer’s name, building and room numbers, and accountable users’ names; enter decals and overages; add records into the property system. 
  • Review PMIS and other databases to research missing items, misclassified documents, inappropriate entries, etc., and takes corrective action. 
  • Provide support and assistance to the Property Specialist during property inventory, including, but not limited to, assisting property custodians, locating missing inventory scanning property items and running reports. 
  • Maintain a broad range of property management records and maintain reports of all discrepancies and infractions. 
  • Track all incoming and outgoing action documents using Tracking System.

What You Will Need

  • Associate’s degree or completed at least two (2) years of a bachelor's
  • degree program in lieu of an associate’s degree 
  • No previous experience is required 
  • Holds a FreeCAD certification by Alison.com
