About the role


Job Summary
This team member will serve in a clinical and clerical role. The team member delivers quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider; they also provide clerical support in complex matters to assist in the delivery of value-driven health care services.

Essential Functions
  • Solves difficult or challenging patient/customer problems, including high level discernment during patient registration.
  • Performs administrative functions, including, but not limited to: Assists with patient check-in/out; schedules complex patient appointments, incoming/outgoing referrals; navigates external patient referral portals; reconciles multi-department deposit; obtains insurance authorizations and/or verifies that prior authorization has been obtained; assists with retroactive insurance denials/appeals; scans confidential electronic medical record/electronic health record documents; scans Right Fax documents and uploads documents to the electronic health record.
  • Provides support to facilitate safe, quality patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider, consistent with clinical policies, procedures and department standard work. May serve as a chaperone, an impartial observer during a sensitive examination or procedure.
  • Provides input in the development of an individualized plan of care. Identifies health maintenance gaps for patients; notifies patients of existing health maintenance gaps. Documents in the electronic health record; documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate, including, but not limited to: use of assistive devices for patient mobilization and transfers, hand hygiene, and confirmation of patient using at least two patient identifiers.
  • Collects patient reported medication history, allergies, risk screenings along with medical history; reports information to Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. Collects and reports vital signs as delineated by a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. Collects samples, including, but not limited to: urine and stool. Performs minor testing for provider interpretation, including, but not limited to: Point of care tests, Electrocardiogram, etc.
  • Assists with stocking of supplies and cleans patient’s environment/work area/equipment; communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department/unit personnel.
  • Performs and documents the results of required clinical logs and CLIA waived laboratory tests; including but not limited to: performing routine quality control procedures, maintaining temperature logs and eyewash stations, etc. Demonstrates a high standard of moral and ethical behavior. Commits to continuous improvement of the patient experience which includes patient safety, quality of care and excellent service. Advocates for privacy, confidentiality and security of patient, staff and organization data. Adheres to the organization’s published values, standards, and policies.

Qualifications
  • Required High School Diploma or equivalent or GED, vocational training, related classes or relevant experience.
  • 2 years of relevant experience Insurance billing, access management, patient financial services, electronic health records, lab service support or other related experience Preferred
  • 2 years of relevant experience Clinical Care Preferred
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
