Senior Usability Engineer

The Senior Usability Engineer supports the design, development, and evaluation of Hologic products to prevent use errors and ensure user safety, efficiency, and satisfaction. This role assesses product design and intended use, predicts and validates user workflows, and provides design feedback and optimizations across the development lifecycle.
You will work on diverse, complex problems, using sound judgment within established procedures and standards. As a seasoned professional, you operate with significant independence and act as the primary usability expert for assigned products.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the usability engineering process for new product development in line with current standards and regulations.
- Own usability engineering deliverables and documentation, including:
- Defining intended users, use environments, and use scenarios
- Identifying and analyzing use-related hazards and hazardous situations
- Translating user needs and risks into user interface requirements and design inputs
- Planning and executing formative and summative usability studies
- Ensure product, design, and documentation compliance with usability standards and internal procedures.
- Serve as the primary usability contact for assigned products, including supporting regulatory submissions, audits, and quality inquiries.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training to junior usability engineers.
- Advocate for user-centered design throughout the product lifecycle.
- Develop a deep understanding of Hologic products and their clinical use to inform design and validate usability.
- Conduct user research, analyze workflows, identify potential use errors, run experiments, and generate detailed reports.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, Post Market, etc.).
- Continuously improve usability methods and processes to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Communicate regularly on project progress, schedules, risks, and resource needs.
- Stay current with usability standards, testing technologies, and industry best practices.

The annualized base salary range for this role is $97,600-$152,700 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, education, business needs and market demand.
