Summary of Job Duties:
The Heavy Equipment Operator I is responsible for operating heavy equipment, such as tractors, trailers, gasoline shovels, backhoes, front-end loaders, and dump trucks and other heavy mechanized equipment. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma
At least one year of experience in operating heavy, mechanized construction and maintenance equipment or in a related area
Valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
At least two or more years of experience in operating heavy, mechanized construction and maintenance equipment or in a related area
CDL License
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of procedures for operating heavy, complex, mechanized equipment in accord with manual, safety regulations, and other instructions
Knowledge of the operation of heavy equipment, driving, and moving mechanized equipment
