About the role
Instagram's mission is to inspire creativity that brings people together. Creators are at the heart of this mission: we succeed if Instagram is a creator's first choice for building their home and sharing their creativity. We’re recruiting for a Data Engineering leader for the Sharing organization to help accelerate this mission, focusing on Instagram's creation and creator experiences. This leader would have holistic responsibility for how public sharing occurs on Instagram. They would lead Data Engineering teams responsible for Instagram’s creation experiences across its permanent surfaces (i.e. Reels and Feed), as well as teams responsible for creator monetization, and tools Instagram builds to allow creators to learn how to grow such as Insights.Data Engineering Leader, Analytics (Instagram) Responsibilities
$206,000/year to $281,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

- Manage the delivery of high impact dashboards and data visualizations.
- Build cross-functional relationships with Data Scientists, Product Managers and Software Engineers to understand data needs and deliver on those needs.
- Define the processes needed to achieve operational excellence in all areas, including project management and system reliability.
- Proactively drive the vision for BI and Data Warehousing across a product vertical, and define and execute on a plan to achieve that vision.
- Build a high-quality BI and Data Warehousing team and design the team to scale.
- Manage data warehouse plans across a product vertical.
- Drive the design, building, and launching of new data models and data pipelines in production.
- Drive data quality across the product vertical and related business areas.
- Define and manage SLA’s for all data sets and processes running in production.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 9+ years of experience in BI and Data Warehousing.
- Experience scaling and managing 10+ person teams.
- Experience managing managers.
- Communication and leadership experience, with experience initiating and driving projects.
- Project management experience.
- Data architecture experience.
- Experience in SQL or similar languages.
- Development experience in at least one object-oriented language (Python, Java, etc.).
- Experience in a consumer web or mobile company.
- Experience with data sets, Hadoop, and data visualization tools.
- Advanced degree.
