Seaman Corporation is seeking a Purchasing Specialist to join our Operations team! This position will report to the Director of Supply Chain.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for supporting purchasing and procurement for non-produced goods, and would support development and continuous improvement initiatives including cost reduction and negotiation, process streamlining, supplier performance management, and more.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Support cost reduction and negotiation for non-produced goods.
• Manage supplier relationships as to maximize the value of relationships and ensure benefit of both parties.
• Responsible for supplier segmentation based on leveragability/risk/capacity, as well as performance management and escalation processes.
• Support collaboration that leads to innovation, improved quality, and cost savings. This includes strategic partnerships such as joint ventures, co-development of products, contracts to ensure supply or lock-in cost reductions.
• Ensure technology utilization throughout supplier relationships including process streamlining, taking advantage of strong data analysis skills.
• Maintain market awareness to stay informed and ahead of industry trends, pricing, and supplier capabilities.
• Responsible for inventory management, utilizing supplier consignment and internal stocking tools.
• Maintain a focus on continuous improvement for both personal and organizational development. Actively seek to improve skills, knowledge, and tools.
• Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or similar degree.
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in purchasing and procurement, ideally within chemical, polymer, or similar industries. Expertise in business analytics, supplier relations, and program planning required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience within SRM software.
