About the role

As a Pricing Analyst intern, you will work closely with the pricing team to support the development and implementation of pricing strategies across various products and services. Your role will include analyzing competitive pricing data, assessing market trends, and evaluating customer demand to recommend pricing adjustments and promotions. You will also assist in creating pricing models and forecasts to predict sales outcomes and profitability impacts. PlanetArt internships are full-time positions, and interns should expect to work Monday-Friday, up to 40 hours per week typically between 9am-6pm. Specific team norms around working hours will be communicated by your manager. Interns should not have conflicts such as classes or other employment during the PlanetArt workday. Applicants should have a minimum of one quarter/semester/trimester remaining in their studies after their internship concludes. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct comprehensive market research to understand industry pricing trends, competitor pricing strategies, and customer perceptions of value.
  • Utilize statistical software to analyze pricing data, including historical sales data, cost information, and market dynamics, to identify pricing opportunities and challenges.
  • Develop and refine pricing models using Excel or other analytical tools to simulate various pricing scenarios and their impact on revenue and margin.
  • Create detailed reports and presentations that summarize findings, provide insights, and recommend data-driven pricing strategies to senior management.
  • For the culmination of the internship, you will be tasked with developing a comprehensive pricing strategy for a new product or service launch or for repositioning an existing offering in the market. This project will require you to apply all the skills and knowledge acquired throughout the internship, including market research, data analysis, and pricing model development. You will present your pricing strategy, including rationale, expected outcomes, and implementation plan, to the pricing team and senior management.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., R, Python) is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to work independently on projects.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and communication skills.
