(Job #548691) Heavy Equipment/Bus Driver 11/12 Months, Shuttle Driver, Salary Range: $3,519 - $6,315 monthly. Hiring Range: $3,519 - $3,695 monthly. This is a full-time, benefited, non-exempt, 12-month pay plan permanent position with a one-year probationary period in the Transportation Services Department. Position Summary:
The Shuttle Driver provides shuttle service to and from designated locations both on and off campus.
Key Responsibilities:
70% - Provides assistance to individuals with mobility disabilities (temporary and permanent) by providing transportation to and from academic classes and activities. Transport students to and from designated pick-up and drop-off points. Arrive at destinations on schedule. Always interact with riders professionally.
5% - Research and plan for traffic, construction and weather delays.
5% - Ensure the vehicle is always fueled and ready for use.
5% - Report vehicle repairs as needed.
5% - Keep mileage records up to date.
5% - Assists Shuttle Drivers (student assistants) in the performance of their duties. Provides general oversight serving as a resource to Shuttle Drivers in the absence of the Transportation & Parking Coordinator. To also include assistance in training Student Shuttle Drivers.
5% - Other Duties as Assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Associated with this Position Include:
- Knowledge of the rules of safe driving and the provisions of the State of California Vehicle Code pertaining to operation of vehicles described in the appropriate classification.
- Knowledge of State of California General Industrial Safety orders related to the assigned tasks of the classification, particularly those related to vehicle and equipment operation, construction methods and practices, and the lifting and moving of heavy loads.
- Ability to operate assigned equipment safely.
- Ability to recognize safety hazards and follow practices and laws to insure safety.
- Ability to follow manuals and guidelines pertaining to operation of State vehicles;.
- Ability to load and unload vehicles correctly and safely.
- Ability to follow oral and written instruction; read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other people; service and make routine repairs of equipment operated.
- Ability to perform manual labor as required by the duties of the position.
