About the role
BabyCenter and What to Expect are seeking a Senior Content Designer to help shape the user experience across our mobile apps and digital products. Based in our New York City office on a hybrid schedule, this role is deeply embedded with Product, UX, Editorial, and Research, ensuring that every word in our products helps pregnant people and new parents feel confident, supported, and informed at the moments that matter most. This is a highly strategic UX content role focused on in-product language, flows, and design patterns, not editorial or long-form writing. Applicants must include a link to a portfolio demonstrating product-focused content design work.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop content for core product experiences across the BabyCenter and What to Expect apps, including tools, trackers, onboarding, personalization features, and notifications.
- Partner closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, and Researchers from early concept through launch to ensure content and design work seamlessly together.
- Design and refine in-product language, flows, and microcopy that are clear, empathetic, accessible, and action-oriented.
- Translate complex pregnancy, parenting, and health concepts into simple, supportive product language grounded in health literacy best practices.
- Apply, evolve, and help govern our content design system, including components, patterns, guidelines, and standards.
- Contribute to and apply tonal frameworks so product content feels warm, conversational, trustworthy, and appropriate to user context.
- Use user research, usability testing, analytics, and experimentation to inform content decisions.
- Ensure content meets accessibility standards, readability requirements, and inclusive design principles.
- 8+ years of content design/UX writing experience, ideally at a consumer-facing company with a strong app presence.
- Must be able to work on-site in our NYC office two days per week.
- Experience writing for mobile product flows, onboarding, personalization, tools, or guided experiences.
- Background in women’s health, pregnancy, parenting, health tech, or wellness (preferred but not required).
- Ability to explain content rationale with data, research, and systems thinking.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and contributing to multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with design systems, Figma, Jira, and experimentation platforms.
- A portfolio demonstrating product-focused content design work, including flows, wireframes, and UX strategy artifacts.
