Veterinary Emergency Care @Lowry (a satellite clinic of Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital) is excited to announce we are looking for  Veterinary Assistants to join our growing Urgent Care team in the Denver area! ​​​​​​​​

About the job: The Veterinary Technician position will assist the hospital in delivering excellent care to all of our patients within the hospital. Perform Veterinary Technician duties pursuant to Veterinary Emergency Care @Lowry Technician Protocols. Embodies the culture in treating every client with the utmost courteous and attentive treatment possible, with a keen sensitivity to the emotional bond between owners and their pets.

How you'll make a difference:

  • Monitor and appropriately document patient vital signs and activity
  • Provide all technical support to primary emergency veterinarian
  • Provide comfort, diagnostic, surgical and nursing care to all patients including critical care patients
  • Perform basic, emergent, and critical care anesthetic monitoring
  • Obtain and prepare samples for diagnostic testing including but not limited to blood draws, arterial blood gas sampling, cystocentesis, urinary catheter sampling and free catch urine
  • Perform various laboratory procedures including but not limited to blood typing, cross matching, and slide agglutination testing
  • Accurately take and process abdominal, thoracic, appendicular, spinal, and skull radiograph while following appropriate radiation safety protocols
  • Properly use and maintain medical equipment
  • Provide professional client communication


What you will bring:

  • Experience working as a Veterinary Assistant for 2+ years, or open to consider technicians with any experience in ER/ICU setting
  • A strong desire to learn and apply knowledge/skills learned to daily work life
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral
  • Ability to demonstrate technical procedures as outlined in the technician protocols
  • Demonstrate reliability and follow-through with all work-related tasks / projects


Schedule: Days will consist of weekdays and either a Saturday or Sunday, 9:00pm - 7:00pm or 8:00pm - 8:00am

Salary: $19.00 - $23.00 / hour, based on experience, plus a $4.00/hr overnight shift differential
