Nemours is seeking a Clinical Research Technologist II to join our Nemours Children’s Health team in Wilmington, DE.
The Clinical Research Technologist II serves as a bench technologist for GI Laboratory performing CLIA licensed enzyme, immunologic and other assays in body fluids and tissue samples for diagnostic testing purposes. Bench duties include acquiring and logging in samples, performing, resulting and reporting assays. The Clinical Research Technologist II understands and possesses the knowledge and skillset to perform the higher levels testing and analysis required for clinical diagnostic testing. In addition, this position will participate in research involving the development and validation of new clinical assays and assist director/manager to write new procedures. Other duties include training and mentoring new technologists, maintaining inventory and assisting the lab director/manager to ensure compliance with CAP, CLIA and JCAHO requirements. This position is also responsible for providing progress and update reports to the lab manager and director.
Essential Functions
1. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills to perform, develop/design and validate methods for enzymatic and immunologic assays.
2. Participate in new assay development and protocol writing/updating
3. Trains and mentor’s new lab clinical technologists.
4. Communicate effectively with physicians and hospital staff
5. Demonstrates knowledge and performance of clinical diagnostics consistent with CAP and/or CLIA requirements, understands the State and Federal requirements of “Proficiency Testing” related to CLIA certification.
6. Assist in maintaining laboratory environment and testing process at a level consistent with CAP and CLIA guidelines
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or MT with equivalent experience;
Knowledge of Q.C. and Q.A. as applied to clinical diagnostic testing; experience with clinical lab procedures required of a CAP and/or CLIA certified laboratory
3-5 yrs of experience required
