Job Summary:

JOB SUMMARY
Evaluates and treats patients with speech, language, voice, cognition, fluency, auditory (re)habilitation, and swallowing/oral feeding disorders. Educates and counsels patients and families. Provides independent therapeutic services and identify area(s) of clinical specialization and competency. Supervises graduate students as assigned in clinical specialty area. Participates actively in identifying and conducting quality improvement activities. Collaborates with clinical practice team to achieve patient outcomes and system objectives.

Join an Innovative, Patient-Centered Neuro-Rehabilitation Team

Vanderbilt Health’s Pi Beta Phi Rehabilitation Institute (PBPRI) is seeking a full-time Speech-Language Pathologist to join our Outpatient Neuro-Rehabilitation Program. This is an excellent opportunity for an SLP who is passionate about helping adults regain communication, cognitive, and functional skills following neurological injury or illness.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (No weekends)
Location: Vanderbilt University Medical Center – Outpatient Neuro Rehab
Status: Full-Time

About the Role

As part of Vanderbilt’s interdisciplinary neurorehabilitation team, you will evaluate and treat adults with speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders related to a wide range of neurological conditions, including:

  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

  • Stroke

  • Parkinson’s Disease

  • ALS, MS, Huntington’s Disease

  • Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH)

  • Brain tumors and other complex neurologic diagnoses

You’ll collaborate closely with occupational therapists, physical therapists, physiatrists, social workers, and other specialists to support community reintegration, vocational goals, and meaningful functional outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform speech, language, and cognitive evaluations and deliver evidence-based treatment for adults with neurologic diagnoses

  • Conduct augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) evaluations and therapy

  • Provide patient and family education, counseling, and functional carryover strategies

  • Participate actively in interdisciplinary care planning and team collaboration

  • Supervise graduate students in Vanderbilt’s MS-SLP program

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology

  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)

  • Eligible for Tennessee state licensure

  • Minimum of one year of clinical experience with adult populations (neuro experience preferred)

  • Strong clinical skills, adaptability, and a commitment to patient-centered care

*New graduates with strong neuro training and interest in mentorship may also be considered.
