Job Description:
The laboratory technicians will have (or be able to obtain) NY Sate licenses for DMC, drug residue testing, milkfat testing and phosphatase. Along with necessary technical skills, technicians must have a positive customer service attitude, display team orientation to their work and have the ability to clearly communicate lab information to production and management.
The quality and safety of our products depend upon the lab technician’s ability to perform their responsibilities in a proper way. A high level of attention to detail that will yield accurate work is required. Required character strengths include honesty and integrity, a high level of self-motivation, good communication skills and team-oriented work approach.
Job Requirements:
- Lab technicians will ideally have a minimum 2-year degree in a technical lab related area or dairy plant experience.
- Mathematical Skills: The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentage.
- Language Skills: The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to communicate across shifts and with others. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings such as training or assisting co-workers.

- Reasoning Ability: The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Physical Demands
- Ability to work in manufacturing environment which includes but not limited to: noise, changing temperatures (hot, wet, cold, humidity), standing/walking/bending/stooping/climbing stairs, maneuvering around manufacturing equipment consistently throughout the shift.
- Working with chemicals, wearing personal protective equipment and following approved chemical handling procedures.
- Physical lifting up to 50-lbs frequently throughout the shift.
- Shift flexibility. This is a hands-on role for a 24/7 manufacturing facility. Our equipment operators are assigned to a team on a 3-shift, 24/7 operation to support manufacturing. This can either be days, swing or night shift and also includes working weekends. Work days and shifts may change to help cover vacations/absences, during plant downtime or related events such as audits.

Position Responsibilities
- Safe and efficient operation of production equipment, which may include: packaging equipment, conveying equipment, lift truck operation and filling equipment. Position titles are included in the classification list in the CBA, Schedule “A”.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOP’s) in detail without deviation.
- Set-up packaging coders, validate product codes in accordance with code specifications.
