Industrial Hygienist

 

Under the guidance and support of the Health Manager, this role will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise, guidance, and consultation for the development and implementation of Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health policies, standards, best practices as relative to their role and position requirements. Help manage and mitigate related Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health risks, and to assure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and standards for the employees and contractors working on WES facilities.  Additionally, the Industrial Hygienist will act as a mentor and technical knowledge resource for the company in building and influencing achievement of enterprise-wide Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health goals, objectives, and performance results aimed at reducing occupational health risks.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate working experience with application of health regulations and standards.
• Working knowledge of qualitative and quantitative risk-analysis techniques, incident investigation methodologies, health risk and hazard assessments, change management approaches, and auditing of Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health programs.
• Working knowledge and professional experience in industrial hygiene, ergonomics, ventilation, radiation safety and occupational health behavioral safety concepts.
• Industrial Hygiene experience in petrochemical/chemical industry operations or other manufacturing operations would be an advantage.
• Working experience with application of OSHA General Industry and EPA TSCA regulations, NIOSH and ACGIH standards, and associated regulatory interpretations/compliance directives/Federal Register Notices.
• Will be required to climb vertical ladders, work at heights, and carry equipment.

 

Responsibilities

• Under the guidance of the company Health Manager, provide subject matter expertise, guidance, and oversight of the Corporate Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health programs and procedures targeted at reducing occupational health risks, including developing and maintaining related training programs.
• Developing, implementing, and maintaining written enterprise-level occupational health and industrial hygiene strategies, programs, policies, and procedures and facilitating the development of fit-for-purpose facility-level approaches to implementation.
• Providing subject matter expertise, guidance, and consultation enterprise wide regarding the requirements promulgated by OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, ACGIH, and other governing entities that influence Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health programs and leading the development of practices that integrate such standards into routine workflows.
• Providing subject matter expertise, guidance, and consultation for facility industrial hygiene monitoring plans, medical surveillance plans, radiation safety plans, and similar strategies.
• Providing subject matter expertise, guidance, and consultation for, as well as conducting as needed, technical assessments such as chemical, noise, lighting surveys, radiation, indoor air quality, ergonomics, and other relevant workplace exposure assessments enterprise wide.
• Providing subject matter expertise, guidance, and consultation as well as conducting as needed, qualitative and quantitative risk-analysis techniques, incident investigation methodologies, hazard assessments, change management approaches, and audits of Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health programs.
• Serving as a mentor and technical knowledge resource for building and stewarding competency in Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health staff enterprise wide.
• Providing subject matter expertise, guidance, and collaborative effort to ensure relevant medical surveillance programs are designed and completed as necessary.
• Collaborating with staff to integrate continuous improvement activities into local Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health programs and procedures, where appropriate.

 

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Public Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related discipline required. 

Certifications/Licenses
Candidate must possess a valid driver's license with no restrictions that would prohibit driving a company vehicle.

 

Relocation
This position is not eligible for domestic relocation.
 

Travel Requirements
Must also be able to travel periodically up to 20% of the time. 

 

Work Schedule

This position follows a hybrid schedule working in office Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and working remote Wednesday and Friday. Monday-Thursday are 9 hours and Fridays are 4 hours.
