Senior Site Reliability Engineer

We are networking data scientists: we combine our knowledge of data analysis, networking and distributed systems to define key performance indicators for our platform, determine how different factors impact them, and devise opportunities for improvement.</p><p><b>Partner with the best</b></p><p>You will apply statistical data analysis and an understanding of networking protocols to diagnose and solve some of the Internet's most difficult content delivery challenges. You will work with cross-functional teams to understand and measure the performance and reliability of our platform and products, and influence their evolution.Note: this is not a QA, DevOps or Operations role.</p><p>As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for:</p><ul><li>Leading SRE teams by providing technical mentorship, feedback and guidelines, and by organising project-specific work.</li><li>Driving partnership with Engineering, Operations and Product teams to help guide adoption of new features and processes.</li><li>Applying analytical skills and statistical insights to identify performance bottlenecks and reliability challenges, and propose solutions.</li><li>Defining, implementing, mining data feeds drawn from 3rd party and internal sources to produce insights that influence company decision-making.</li><li>Influencing company decision-making at the highest levels to identify areas for new technology investments.</li><li>Building software tools and systems to automate analytical tasks and workflows to increase efficiency and reliability.</li></ul><p><b>Do what you love</b></p><p>To be successful in this role you will:</p><ul><li>Have relevant experience and a Bachelor's diploma in Computer Science or its equivalent.</li><li>Have an analytical background with experience in statistical data analyst.</li><li>Demonstrate experience with coding in at least one following languages (python, perl, SQL, Java, C, R).</li><li>Possess experience with Internet protocols (DNS/HTTP/TLS/TCP).</li><li>Have a proven ability to provide insightful and well-received technical feedback.</li><li>Have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to articulate technical information in an easy-to-understand manner.</li></ul><p><b>Work in a way that works for you</b></p><p>FlexBase, Akamai's Global Flexible Working Program, is based on the principles that are helping us create the best workplace in the world.
