Job Description
The Sr Supply Chain Specialist within Global Clinical Supply Chain (GCSC) Delivery is responsible for managing the execution and oversight of global clinical trial material distribution activities to depots and investigator sites. This role independently manages complex clinical supply shipments, monitors delivery risks, and partners cross-functionally to help ensure uninterrupted patient supply.
The role requires strong analytical judgment, sound decision-making, and the ability to work across organizational, geographic, and cultural boundaries. The Sr Supply Chain Specialist supports business process improvements, data integrity, documentation quality, system enhancements, and operational standards that strengthen delivery performance, compliance, and inspection readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Manage global clinical supply delivery activities, including depot, site, and cross-border shipments, to support study timelines and patient supply continuity.
Independently analyze shipment, inventory, and distribution risks; apply sound judgment and data-driven decision-making to resolve issues and protect delivery performance.
Manage stock transfers, returns, adjustments, and discrepancy resolution across depots, sites, and distribution networks.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders, depots, couriers, freight forwarders, and external partners to optimize shipment execution and issue resolution.
Support document upload, functional QC reviews for eTMF filings.
Support audits, inspections, and regulatory submissions.
Ensure delivery activities and documents comply with cGMP, GDP, SOPs, safety practices, import/export requirements, and company standards.
Develop and maintain tracking tools, dashboards, metrics, and standardized processes that improve delivery visibility, reliability, and operational performance.
Support business process improvements, system enhancements, ERP or IRT-related initiatives, and operational excellence activities.
Review and approve business-critical documentation, including shipment records, material transfer requests, purchase orders, work orders, and supporting delivery documents.
Mentor and train less experienced team members on shipment processes, issue management, documentation expectations, and stakeholder communication.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related discipline and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
OR
Master's degree, including MS, MBA, MA, or equivalent, and at least 3 years of relevant experience.
Relevant experience may include supply chain, logistics, clinical supply chain, pharmaceutical operations, distribution, inventory management, planning, or related operational experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, clinical supply chain, or another highly regulated industry.
Experience managing global clinical trial planning, shipments, depot operations, site resupply, and cross-border distribution activities.
Experience with import/export requirements, customs clearance, country-specific shipping requirements, and global logistics operations.
Knowledge of temperature-controlled logistics, cold-chain distribution, and shipment excursion management.
