Akron General’s 30-bed 7100 Unit is a high acuity cardiac Telemetry and Medical/Surgical Unit. This fast-paced team cares for patients who require extensive ADL assistance and complex medical attention. As an LPN on the team, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional, top-quality care to these patients. Some of your main responsibilities will include IV push and drip of cardiac medications and chest pain testing and monitoring. In this role, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, all while enhancing your nursing skills through hands-on experience and numerous educational resources offered within the Cleveland Clinic system.   

 

A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00PM – 7:30AM, including every other weekend and 3 holidays per year. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Collect, document and report patient data and observations.  

• Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions.  

• Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions.   

• Perform routine laboratory tests. 

• Educate patients and family members.  

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program  

• Current Ohio license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) 

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)  

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

• One year of patient care experience
