Summary

The Senior Business Systems Analyst serves as the liaison between the business community and the GIS technical development team(s) who support the systems and applications the community uses. This person is responsible for ensuring that business needs, related to those systems and applications, are clearly understood, documented, and met. The Business Systems Analyst will work closely with business system users, subject matter experts, technical resources, and project stakeholders to support business requirement efforts, document functional requirements and design specifications and support development and testing efforts. This individual must possess solid business acumen, strong oral and written communication skills, flexibility, self-motivation, and strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.   

What You'll Do

  • Elicits, analyzes, specifies, and validates the business needs of stakeholders.  
  • Creates documentation ensuring that the requirements and design are complete, consistent, concise, traceable, feasible, unambiguous, and verifiable.  
  • Conducts internal and external research to gain a better understanding of the project’s subject area.  
  • Conducts meetings and presentations to all levels of stakeholders to share ideas and findings and to ensure that requirement specifications are correctly interpreted.  
  • Manages and tracks the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle; enforces and redefines as necessary.   
  • Researches, reviews, and analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements-gathering processes and develops strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.  

Education

A bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

Experience

In lieu of a degree, 4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 4 years may be considered.

Additional Requirements and Qualifications

  • Experience with ESRI GIS Software and Systems.  
  • Experience as a Business Analyst with hands-on experience in facilitating the elicitation of requirements, using proven facilitation
