Summary:
Reports to NICU Clinical Nurse Manager. Responsible for providing acute neonatal nursing care in a prompt and efficient manner to all neonates being cared for in the NICU as well as transported to/from. Responsible for assessing, planning, organizing, documenting, and evaluating patient care in conjunction with the NNP or Neonatologist. The NICU Acute Transport Nurse acts as a professional representative to the community, as an educator to professional groups, referral facilities, emergency medical services.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Good oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrates knowledge and skill in nursing theory and practice of nursing process.
Nurses assigned to a specialty unit will be required to meet criteria established for that unit.
Job Requirements:
Education: Graduate of an accredited college/university or institution.
Experience: Neonatal Experience Preferred
Registration, Certification or Licensure Requirement: Current Ohio RN licensure; BLS certification required. NRP & STABLE required within 6 months, NCC Neonatal required within 2 years. Other certification required per department policy.
Job Functions:
Provides professional nursing care to neonates during stabilization and transport of critical infant. Works with NNP/Neonatologist to assess pt. condition, to interpret patient related data, to establish immediate priorities and plan of care.
Acts as a professional representative to the community. Cooperates fully with all referral center staff and flight support services. Outreach and education included.
Documents necessary and appropriate patient assessment and care.
Reports transport patient's condition and status to the referring physician and or institution.
Participates in department standing and ad hoc committees. Attends internal and external educational meetings, keeps current in knowledge, skills, and clinical competencies through professional journals, professional organizations, etc
Adheres to all standards and policies regarding safety/patient safety initiatives.
Participates in ongoing PI and neonatal quality improvement initiatives, including but not limited to chart audits and data collection.
Provides professional nursing care to hospitalized neonates. Works with NNP/Neonatologist to assess pt. condition, to interpret patient related data, to establish immediate priorities and plan of care.
Serves as charge nurse, preceptor student liaison as assigned.
Provides family centered and developmentally appropriate care to all neonates at all times.

Shift: Nights with Rotation
Hours: 7:00PM - 7:30AM
Hours per pay period: 72
Weekend, Holiday and on-call rotation per department policy
