Sr. Backend Engineer

We are looking for a senior backend developer to help improve our products through development of new APIs and backend systems. We are building several products that allow customers to process and work with lidar data. Ideal candidate has experience with architecture and the whole lifecycle of medium sized application. Data engineering experience is welcome. Some interest or experience with frontend is a bonus. Our stack is Docker, Python+Flask, Postgres, Google cloud platform, PubSub, GCS, GitLab.
The starting base pay for this role is $100,000-180,000/yr. the base pay will be dependent on your skills, work experience, location, and qualifications. This role may also be eligible for equity & benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work on systems behind the scenes for our platform that allows processing and visualizing lidar recordings
• You will be working partly on the usual. Designing APIs, models, making sure apps can scale after they get deployed
• You will interact with other team members including frontend engineers, product managers and UX designers to deliver the features
• Lead and define best practices of our systems and mentor other engineers as our team grows

QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS in computer science or related field
• Our products touch multiple disciplines so willingness to learn is essential. You will regularly interact with data coming from the sensor.
• Strong coding skills (Python, Ruby, Go)
• A solid understanding of how to design, develop, test, and monitor production backend systems
• Experience with relational databases (Postgres)
• Experience with designing usable and performant APIs
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like GCP or similar
• Some understanding of big data principles is helpful. No SQL. Processing of large amounts of data.
