Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Engineering organization. This position is located in San Diego, CA and requires the ability to work on site a minimum of 2 days per week based on program needs.
What You’ll Get To Do:
As an integral part of our Integrated Functional Capability (IFC) Architecture team, you will be responsible for defining key capabilities and functions allocated to system incremental builds (IFC's), development of the supporting Triton system architecture, and optimizing the way we work through Jira tickets to enhance collaboration across systems engineering and software design functions.
You will have the opportunity to:
• Define technology maturity constraints as they relate to program integration events
• Coordinate with integrated product teams for establishing threads of functions and requirements within the architecture model
• Define and roadmap Integrated Functional Capability (IFC) efforts across the MQ-4C Triton Enterprise, driving reuse and commonality while ensuring appropriate configuration identification and management.
• Define and drive the execution of a strategic IFC roadmap driving multiple technical baselines toward commonality while establishing software points of departure and accounting for resource utilization across programs.
• Utilize Agile methodologies which will enable rapid capability insertion and reduce time to field Implement tools, technologies, and procedure to enable more efficient integration.
• Monitor and advise the creation and modification of software to meet IFC objectives.
• Provide guidance and required documentation to maintain a current compatibility baseline.
• Ensure consistent vertical and horizontal integration across the IPTs with respect to managing software and hardware compatibility and changes.
• Interface with the customer on regular basis to share IFC updates, roadmap strategies, asset utilization. Prepares briefing material in support of regular customer
• Maintain technical consistency across multiple levels of weapon system requirement and architecture baseline
• Develop training resources and communicate to both internal and external stakeholders

Basic Qualifications:
Systems Engineer (Level 2) consideration:
- Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of experience with Bachelor's degree, 0 years of experience with Master's degree
Principal Systems Engineer (Level 3) consideration:
- Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience with Bachelor's degree, 3 years of experience with Master's degree, 1 year with a PhD.
For both Level 2 and Level 3 consideration:
- Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
- Must have ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
- Previous software engineering, systems engineering, or technical project management experience
