This position is funded for 12 months; continuation past 12 months will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.

 

This is a/an 75 % full-time equivalency (FTE) job. This position will work 30 hours per week. This position is eligible for benefits associated with any full-time position. The salary grade and range listed in the posting is reflective of a 100% Full-time position. Full-time equivalency job offers may fall outside of the listed range due to the assigned percentage of effort.

 

POSITION SPECIFICS

The Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness at Penn State seeks a qualified and experienced candidate for the role of Community Safety Workgroup Facilitator to support constructive dialogue and shared problem‑solving across community safety systems in the City of Pittsburgh.

This position manages a structured, multi‑stakeholder engagement process across two community safety workgroups—Police and Emergency Medical Services (EMS)—and a cross-sector leadership steering committee. The role focuses on facilitation, process design, and the synthesis of workgroup outputs into actionable insights for senior city leadership.

This is a facilitation-centered role requiring the ability to guide complex discussions with neutrality, foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders, and help groups move toward shared understanding and clear outcomes.

The position is 75% FTE (30 hours per week) and is benefits-eligible.

This position will be filled at the Industry Relations Coordinator - Advanced Professional OR Senior Professional level.

Key Responsibilities: Following are the key responsibilities of this position:

Facilitation

  • Plan, schedule, and facilitate regular working sessions for Police and EMS workgroups and periodic meetings of the leadership steering committee.
  • Guide discussions to ensure focus on shared goals, while constructively managing group dynamics and surfacing areas of tension.
  • Build and sustain trust among diverse stakeholders, including front-line employees, civilian staff, union representatives, and community members.
  • Capture, synthesize, and communicate key decisions, areas of agreement, unresolved questions, and next steps.
  • Translate workgroup progress
