Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an opening for a Consulting Systems Engineer to join our Airborne Multifunction Systems (AMS) Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) team, supporting our Advanced Electronic Warfare Systems Operating Unit at our Linthicum, MD campus.  This role will be the Lead Consulting Engineer responsible for consulting with customers internally and externally for a portfolio of major development programs that include sensors for current and next generation air, land, and sea programs and missions aligned to the Long Range Strategic Plan.  The ideal candidate possesses technical expertise, a drive to lead, collaborative people skills, and the proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This position is in Linthicum, MD and requires work on-site daily.

Qualified candidates will apply strong systems engineering knowledge and will have the opportunity to work on multiple tasks including but not limited to:  System Architecture/Concept Development, Candidate Technology Trade Studies, Requirements Development and Derivation, Algorithm Development, Performance Analysis, Data Analysis, and work with cross-disciplinary hardware, software, and firmware teams. We encourage our engineers to be innovative with solving problems and identifying improvements. 

 *This position requires up to 100% on-site work due to security constraints and an ability to pass an enhanced security review.   

What you will get to do:

• Collaborate with customers and industry partners to compile, derive and develop requirements for advanced electronic warfare systems. 
• Model and simulate real-time system operational environments and develop software that represent projected system behavior.
• Lead the development of system level capabilities combining hardware, software and firmware.
• Guide the development and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures, and schedules for verifying system requirements.
• Perform analysis of test results and prepare comprehensive reports and executive level briefing for customer and program leadership.
• Identify and implement process improvements within the team to enhance productivity and quality of deliverables.
• Lead advanced Research and Development projects to study, develop and mature advanced electronic warfare algorithms.
• Develop plans, lead the execution, and analyze data for prototype capability demonstration and risk reduction activities.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline with 16+ years of experience, or a Masters in STEM with 14+ years of experience.
• Demonstrated technical expertise in electronic warfare system development, across the full systems engineering V.
• Experience working integration activities for programs in the maritime domain.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees, management, and customers.
• Ability to prioritize and manage tasks from multiple organizations and complete with limited oversight.
• US Citizenship required
• Active Top Secret Security Clearance for consideration
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience as Integrated Product Team lead, Product Owner or other relevant role driving innovation and success.
• Experience collaborating with the government customer to define and develop cutting-edge system capability.
• Experience with the hardware, software and firmware development processes.
