Job Summary:

Reports to the General Counsel. Supervises a wide range of legal services and advice to the organization. Works closely with the General Counsel, senior management and outside legal counsel and employees at all level. Oversees legal advice and analysis regarding health care regulatory and compliance matters to support the organization. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned personnel utilizing both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Juris Doctor (JD): Required
  • Eleven years’ relevant experience: Preferred
  • Experience in a major law firm or in-house experience in a large, complex organization: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Licensed in the state of practice: Required

Essential Functions:

  • Supervises the preparation, reviewing and revising of contracts and other legal documents. Assists with the development of system policies and procedures. Supervises the education of in-house legal counsel and staff. Supervises the preparation, reviewing and revising of physician and non-physician contracts, and other legal documents, with a primary focus on physician contracts and compliance.
  • Supervises outside counsel. Provides legal support for the organization's corporate compliance, privacy and security officers. Works with senior hospital administration and senior corporate management on legal matters.
  • Structures and negotiates business transactions, performs due diligence, counsels clients, performs legal research and supervises closings.

  • Reviews, checks and/or directs the work of department staff.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
