About the role

POSITION SUMMARY 

Zachry Group is seeking a Technical Project Manager to manage software, data, and infrastructure projects.  The Technical Project Manager leads and manages one or more projects through the entire project life cycle.  The Technical Project Manager leads cross-functional teams (internal and external) through project planning and execution to deliver technology solutions on time, within budget, and aligned to customer requirements.
 

Primary activities include project management, internal and external communications, financial management, and interfacing with technical teams. The Technical Project Manager implements and maintains enterprise standard approaches to project management within their assigned projects. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide project and program management for large-scale technology projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and within scope. 
  • Manage projects from inception through completion ensuring all planned work products are completed
  • Escalate project issues and coordinate resolution actions
  • Prepare and communicate project plans, project status and budget reports
  • Ensure project scope is tightly controlled and process changes to scope through approved change orders
  • Coordinate activities to staff projects appropriately
  • Coordinate activities to obtain approvals and signoffs for project work products
  • Manage variances to project plans and activities

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant major
    -or- 
  • Minimum of 3 years enterprise-level project management experience.
  • Experience managing Professional Services vendors and holding them accountable to contractual obligations.
  • Proficient use of all Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to manage through high level of ambiguity and multiple requests from variety of sources

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • ITIL, and/or technical certifications

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

Required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, and other emerging communication technologies.  Use of arm/hand steadiness, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, multi limb coordination, oral expression, and comprehension. May be required to lift, carry and move objects safely. Occasionally required to work in an industrial location and may adhere to extended periods of standing, walking, sitting, signaling and talking. Bells, whistles and alarms may occasionally go off. Ability to visually focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision.  While on an industrial site required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

Work will be in a general office environment operating and functioning in a fast-paced work environment. Must possess vision (corrected or uncorrected) that allows for clear visibility from a distance of 20 inches or less.  Occasionally required to work in an industrial location where weather can range from warm to extremely and hot and unusually dry. Sand and dust clouds may be frequent. Noise levels will be moderate to high. An industrial location may contain light to heavy equipment vehicles that contribute to noise levels.
