Your Specific Responsibilities:
Removes brain from animal heads, ensuring removal of required testing areas. Prepares slides. Performs rabies direct fluorescence antibody (DFA) following standard protocol. Records results. Notifies counties of positive findings. Mails reports to submitter and enters results into Merlin after test completion. Prepares disinfectant solutions. Maintains instruments. This position has On-Call Assignment responsibilities.
Performs enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (Elisa) testing. Analyzes findings. Enters results in LabWare.
Copies lab submission forms. Enters demographic data or reviews demographic data by end of day of receipt.
Accessions specimens. Assigns appropriate lab number and test. Spins down all serum tubes before decanting into storage tubes.
Performs equipment maintenance on non-analytical laboratory equipment twice yearly.
Maintains a clean and orderly workplace.
Performs related duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of terminology, principals, techniques, and equipment used in laboratory testing and analyses.
Skill in the use of lab equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications:
Minimum - Eligible to obtain a Florida Clinical Laboratory License, including the Public Health License in Microbiology. One year of experience. Associate degree in Medial Technology or Bachelor in a Biological Science.
Preferred - Possess a Florida Clinical Laboratory License, including the Public Health License in Microbiology.
