Senior Network Engineer

Samsung SDS America is looking for an experienced Network Engineer capable of the day-to-day management, design, and support of network infrastructure. Our Network Engineer will monitor, resolve, and/or escalate any network related issues that affect the performance or availability of voice and data services. This role also provides networking support to other teams as necessary to meet strategic goals and supports and mentors lower-level network engineers. The Senior Network Engineer is a critical member of the engineering team who contributes to and assists in implementing overall strategic goals for technology infrastructure and security in collaboration with other IT teams. This is part of a systems engineering team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet business objectives and SLAs.

The team is working onsite Mon-Fri in our office based in Plano, TX.

Responsibilities:

• Provide network design, hardware, and IOS recommendations that support reliability, redundancy, and scalability
• Manage and support configuration network hardware; Cisco router, switches 29xx, 35xx 37xx, 45xx 49xx, 92xx, 94xx, Nexus 5k, 7k, 9k, VPN gateways and firewalls (Cisco ASA and Palo Alto)
• Manage and support network protocols: OSPF, BGP, HSRP, QoS, etc
• Monitor and support local and wide area networks (ASR)
• Diagnose, document, and resolve complex network issues
• Plan, document, and deploy network changes supporting ongoing projects
• Provide Level 3 (escalation point) support and problem resolution
• Work outside normal hours to perform diagnosis and/or implementation of product releases or changes, so that normal workflow is not interrupted
• Participate in on-call duties on a rotational schedule for network operations
• Support firewall modification requests within business timelines
• Support and training for junior engineers

Requirements

• 8+ years supporting a Cisco network environment
• High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related area preferred
• Certificates: CCNP or higher (CCIE)
• Strong experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Zabbix and Wireshark
• Experienced with supporting Firewalls, Load Balancers(F5), and Wireless Network infrastructure
• Desired: Cisco Nexus and Citrix NetScaler experience
• Must be detail-oriented, security conscious, and proficient in troubleshooting
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills a must
• Ability to work and communicate effectively in a remote team environment
