Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manage over $100M in sales including programs with National accounts and Main Street customers with a goal of growing YOY.
- This person will also work to understand the future buying needs of 26,000 regional strategic account locations and potentially over 100,000 national strategic account locations
- Through strong interpersonal skills, the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels and senior leaders in a collaborative manner; the ability to cultivate relationships with key stakeholders across functions to achieve business objectives and drive strategic change; proven track record of establishing strong relationships with the field sales and operations and experience in leading complex cross-functional teams.
- Align corporate-level strategies to field tactical operations in both consignment and stocking programs.
- Determine financial and strategic opportunities to provide best-in-class professional stocking and consignment programs.
- Partner across all teams to ensure seamless execution from program inception to ongoing replenishment and assortment expansion/contraction.
- Lead salesforce integration across all stocking categories for sales and inventory tracking, customer calls/visits, target customer lists, etc.
- Create and nurture effective communication within the organization.
- Ensure assortment accuracy by working with the category management team and vendors to obtain new product information and update programs.
- Determine the positioning of a product category to maximize engagement with all commercial and strategic accounts.
- Identify and recommend opportunities that fit company pricing and quality objectives for unique assortment areas or specific categories to emphasize.
- Make product recommendations to increase revenue by providing strategic, consultative category guidance to deliver market-leading growth.
- Recommend and develop exit strategies for unsuccessful products and/or programs.
- Recommend how to price products based on the purchase price and market trends to ensure Advance Auto Parts has competitive pricing across key competitors including promotional pricing.
- Responsible for data analytics evaluating the performance of stocking programs.
- Ability to work independently and with a high level of energy and initiative.
- Analyze data and insights to determine industry and consumer trends.

- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and interest in solving problems.
- Monitor competitor and non-competitor websites for industry trends and identify new business opportunities.
- Manage teams who work directly with VPPs, CAMs, and CSMs to ensure consistency and accountability for a full-service stocking program.
- Understand and manage financial expectations and their effect on budgets, WIF, LTP, and training.
- Review and interpret company sales reporting, focusing on finding solutions for shortfalls and successes.
- Must know budgeted expectations and/or set goals for areas of responsibility and measure accordingly.
- Ensure a culture of regular visits to Advance Auto Parts stores, Professional Customers, and Strategic Customers to review trends, and upcoming program updates and discuss opportunities to drive sales/profit.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

- Bachelor's degree desired in business or related field; +3 years related experience and/or training in Merchandising as Category Manager.
- Minimum 10 years in corporate purchasing/replenishment experience; or Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- An undergraduate degree in Business Administration preferred, and/or prior B2B sales experience.
- 7 minimum years of experience in Vendor Relations, Negotiations, Financial Literacy/Pricing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of experience in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to thrive (and preference to work) in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with frequently changing goals and deadlines.
- Comfort navigating and manipulating large data sets to identify trends and underlying drivers.
- Excellence in implementation, including strong attention to detail, planning, and organizational skills.
