Position Summary
The Patient Access Representative II at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is responsible for supporting departmental efficiency by performing a variety of patient access functions, including scheduling, registration, pre-admission, admission, reception, and discharge. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform patient scheduling, registration, pre-admission, admission, reception, and discharge processes accurately and efficiently.
- Collect, verify, and enter complete and accurate patient demographic, insurance, and financial information into the appropriate systems.
- Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards of Baylor Scott and White Medical Center - Sunnyvale.
- Provide professional and courteous assistance to patients, families, physicians, and staff.
- Explain patient financial responsibilities and collect payments using compliant patient liability collection techniques before, during, and after the date of service.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Answer incoming calls, respond to patient inquiries, and direct patients and visitors appropriately.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure efficient patient flow and departmental operations.
- Support departmental goals and contribute to operational excellence.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year of patient access, registration, scheduling, or healthcare customer service experience preferred.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and insurance verification preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn healthcare systems.
