Research Specialist BJob Description Summary
: This Research Specialist B will serve work as a research technician in the laboratory of Dr. Arupa Ganguly. The employee will perform all aspects of DNA isolation, mutation detection in human disease associated genes, real-time Q-PCR analysis for gene dosage and mosaicism analysis and other relevant functions of the laboratory. Experience with performing or analyzing bioinformatics of next generation sequencing techniques on DNA or RNA preferred.Position contingent upon funding.

Job Responsibilities
Carry out complex procedures associated with genetic diagnosis of human diseases, including Sanger and NextGen sequencing and real-time PCR.
Ability to interpret results and clinical significance of test findings. Requires computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office products. Experience with variant classification referred.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
Ability to meet deadlines for prompt report of results.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
Participate in routine maintenance and quality control activities.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
