Summary:
The APRN/PA will facilitate and expedite the flow of patients with cardiac diagnosis through Norwalk Hospital. The APRN/PA will communicate and coordinate services with other departments/providers within the health care continuum. The APRN/PA will be responsible for noninvasive Cardiology testing and report generation which includes but not limited to all types of Stress tests, EKG testing, Tilt table testing, and Holter monitoring. The APRN/PA will assist with Transesophageal Echos, Cardioversions, Echo imaging enhancement administration, and other duties as assigned. The APRN /PA will work with Interdisciplinary teams on CHF Readmission initiatives and throughput for chest pain patients.
Responsibilities:
1. Exercise and Nuclear Stress Tests Criteria A: Assess patients for readiness and appropriateness for testing. Exercise and Nuclear Stress Tests Criteria B: Supervise patient during testing. Exercise and Nuclear Stress Tests Criteria C: Direct activities of cardiology techs during testing. Exercise and Nuclear Stress Tests Criteria D: Interpret and document results.
2. Noninvasive Cardiology Testing Criteria A: Assess patients for readiness and appropriateness for testing. Noninvasive Cardiology Testing Criteria B: Supervise patient during testing. Noninvasive Cardiology Testing Criteria C: Direct activities of cardiology techs during testing. Noninvasive Cardiology Testing Criteria D: Interpret and document results.
3. CHF Readmission Coordination Criteria A : Assist Interdisciplinary teams with creating protocols and guidelines for the CHF population. Criteria B: Participate in CHF team activities and meetings. Criteria C: Work with CHF team on CHF Readmission improvement projects.
4. Chest Pain Throughput Coordination Criteria A; Identify improvement opportunities for chest pain case. Criteria B: Work with ER, EMS, Cardiology, Cardiac Cath Lab and Cardiac Rehab teams to evaluate current processes and improvement opportunities. Criteria C : Work with Quality Department to review best practice and quality outcomes.
5. Education and Community Outreach Criteria A: Provide ongoing education to nursing, House staff and technical staff. Education and Community Outreach Criteria B: Represent hospital in community related activities and projects.
6. Support patient care by performing/supporting inpatient and outpatient consults.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.
8. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Other information:
Required: Graduate of Accredited Nursing Program for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse OR Physician Assistant program.
Current APRN License in State of Connecticut OR Physician Assistant License in the State of Connecticut.
BLS required.
Minimum Experience: zero to six months
Desired: ACLS certification required within 2 months of position start. Moderate sedation certification within 2 months of position start. Cardiology experience, EKG and stress test experience preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills required.
