Project Overview:
Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come. This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.
Job Summary:
This role will support design development of structural engineering designs for the project site by preparing studies, drawings, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. Work with other structural engineers/designers and other technical disciplines in a team environment.
Major Responsibilities:
- Originate and check structural deliverables of high complexity, including specifications, drawings, reports and calculations.
- Interpret and verify industry standards, guidelines, and codes for project deliverables.
- Report design quantities compared to estimated quantities.
- Participate in project design/model reviews.
- Participate in constructability reviews.
- Review vendor information from subcontractors and integrate it into the design solution.
- Execute schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires master’s degree in engineering (Civil/Structural related or international equivalent) and with 6-8 years of relevant experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Must be fluent in English and Polish.
- Proven work experience should emphasize design of heavy industrial-type facilities/structures on engineering projects from inception to handover.
- Must be familiar with the provisions of Eurocodes and current codes of practice and design standards and regulations.
- Have a Poland Professional Engineering (PE) license for design in structural and construction specialty.
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.
