Your New Role

As a Senior Compliance Specialist within Member Governance & Accountability, you will provide trusted compliance advice, guidance and oversight across the Member Domain. Acting as a key partner to business leaders, you will help embed a strong compliance culture, support effective decision-making and ensure compliance obligations are managed in a practical and business aligned way.

Working closely with stakeholders across the Fund, you will provide expert compliance guidance across obligations management, incident and breach assessments, regulatory change initiatives, compliance risk assessments, communications and marketing reviews, and maintenance of compliance standards, procedures and processes. You will build strong relationships across the business, influencing outcomes and supporting leaders to navigate complex regulatory requirements while delivering positive member outcomes.

As a senior member of the team, you will play an important leadership role by mentoring and developing colleagues, sharing expertise and contributing to the ongoing capability uplift of the broader function. You will also act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders and support the Manager in driving team priorities and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key duties include but not limited to;

  • Partner with business leaders and obligation owners to support the effective management of compliance obligations, including obligation assessments, control identification, incident analysis and ongoing monitoring. 
  • Build strong and trusted relationships across the Member Domain, providing balanced, pragmatic and business aligned compliance advice to stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Assess incidents for potential breaches, provide regulatory impact analysis and guide stakeholders through appropriate remediation and reporting requirements. 
  • Lead and influence compliance outcomes across regulatory change programs, transformation initiatives and strategic projects. 
  • Review marketing materials, communications and business collateral, partnering with stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements. 
  • Develop and deliver compliance guidance, communications and training that builds capability and promotes a strong compliance culture across the business. 
  • Coach, mentor and support less experienced team members, sharing knowledge and helping to strengthen team capability and performance. 
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and provide leadership support to the Manager, including acting in their absence when required.

 

What You’ll Need

  • Hold an accreditation in Risk Management from a recognised body such as the Risk Management Institute of Australasia (RMIA) or Governance Institute of Australia (GIA), or be willing to obtain one after joining AustralianSuper. 
  • 7+ years' experience in a compliance, risk or regulatory advisory role within financial services. 
  • Strong knowledge of superannuation legislation, regulatory obligations and risk and compliance frameworks. 
  • Demonstrated ability to build credibility and influence stakeholders across all organisational levels, including senior leaders. 
  • Proven experience providing coaching, guidance and leadership to colleagues within high-performing teams. 
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business solutions and outcomes. 
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to navigate challenging conversations and competing priorities. 
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills, with a pragmatic and risk-based approach to decision making. 
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
