About the role
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Capture Manager/Director to join our team. The Capture Manager/Director will be responsible for leading the capture effort for qualified business development opportunities across various sectors. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing complex capture processes, from opportunity identification through proposal submission, and winning strategic deals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Opportunity Assessment and Strategy Development:
- Conduct thorough assessments of potential business opportunities to determine outcomes that improve win probability.
- Research and understand potential target customers to develop solutions best designed to meet their technological and business needs.
- Review competitive landscape to develop winning strategies around the areas of technical/management solutions, key personnel, staffing, corporate experience selection, and price.
- Identify and assess the value that teaming partners bring to a bid.
- Collect and assess opportunity and programmatic historical trends and information ensuring accurate representation of facts.
- Develop and routinely present comprehensive capture plans to c-suite and corporate leadership.
- Support price to win development.
- Support recruiting efforts for Key Personnel and potential incumbent staff.
- Support marketing campaigns and develop marketing collateral.
- Cross-functional Coordination:
- Lead cross-functional teams comprised of business development, technical delivery, human resources, marketing pricing, and proposal development personnel to collect intelligence and execute capture strategies.
- Capture customer objectives, challenges, and pain points. Centralize cross-functional team’s focus to delivering value
- Provide transparent updates, as necessary, to bring awareness to gaps or blockers that prevent opportunity progress.
- Foster collaboration and positive synergy amongst team members to ensure alignment with corporate culture.
- Customer Engagement and Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers within target customers and partner organizations.
- Conduct customer meetings, site visits, and presentations to understand customer needs, communicate value propositions, and shape requirements.
- Proposal Development Oversight:
- Provide hands-on development of compliant, compelling, concise, and comprehensive proposals content (to include executive summaries, management and technical approaches, corporate experience, key personnel resumes, and price narratives).
- Ensure proposals are aligned with value propositions and customer expectations and requirements. Provide comprehensive and thorough proposal reviews.
- Ensure all internal and external resources supporting a proposal are held accountable.
- Work hand and glove with Proposal Manager to ensure all proposals are compliant and submitted on time.
- Risk Management and Compliance:
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with the capture effort, including legal, financial, and operational risks. Transparently escalate these risks to leadership.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements throughout the capture lifecycle.
- Capture Performance Analysis and Reporting:
- Monitor and analyze capture performance metrics, such as win rate, pipeline health, and resource utilization.
- Prepare regular reports and updates for senior management on capture progress, challenges, and strategic recommendations.
Required Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in sales, capture management, business development, or related roles within the government contracting.
- Experience using multiple government contracting websites/tools like: SAM.gov, eBuy, eGOS, FPDS, GAO, IT Dashboard, USASpending, Govwin, G2Exchange, Orange Slices, GovTribe, etc…
- Demonstrate ability to comprehend client needs, fears, and challenges to design effective win themes and comprehensive solutions.
- Detailed Oriented and able to track multiple concurrent capture activities across internal teams.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and winning federal business opportunities, with demonstrated $75M in competitive wins
- Strong understanding of the federal procurement lifecycle and capture best practices.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
