Core Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Employment-related matters across our sales, marketing and manufacturing entities throughout the United States and Canada.
  • Provide practical and strategic legal advice to Human Resource professionals and business professionals and the Vice President & General Counsel, Americas on US and Canadian employment laws.
  • Oversee employment litigation in federal and state courts, including managing outside counsel, recommending litigation strategies, and supervising the litigation process.
  • Provide business-minded, practical advice and counsel to the Human Resource team, management, and other partners on issues including, but not limited to, recruitment, hiring, performance management, compensation, leaves of absence, discipline and termination, employee relations, leave and disability laws, and state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Partner with Human Resource team to create, update, and maintain policies and practices.
  • Assist in the management of other, non-employment law litigation and inquiries by state and federal authorities.

As part of the Americas Regional legal team reporting to the VP & General Counsel, Americas, this role will focus on supporting and developing the employment law strategy within the Americas region. This includes providing expert legal advice on a broad range of employment-related issues, contributing to policy development, and ensuring compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations.

As there will be opportunities to interact and work together with the regional and global legal teams in other areas of the business, this role will be expected to be a strong teammate within both teams to provide the best value-adding legal support to our relevant partners with strong business partnering skills and a global mentality.

LCR Americas is the regional legal team covering all of the Americas region, with lawyers in Boston, MA, Enfield, CT, Mexico City, MX, Monterrey, MX, Richmond, VA as well as Billund, Denmark and London, United Kingdom and Shanghai, China in a variety of legal positions.

Do you have what it takes?

  • The successful candidate will be a qualified lawyer with proven experience in employment law, preferably at both a law firm and as in-house counsel with both domestic and international experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to explain complex information clearly and effectively to different audiences.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and judgment.
  • Ability to work proactively, independently, and reliably under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to work efficiently and collaboratively across functions, think logically, and identify practical solutions.
  • Willingness to tackle matters outside area of expertise.
  • Desire to work as a partner to the business with the skills for finding pragmatic solutions to challenges within the employment law field.
  • Experience in developing and conducting training programs for employees and management on various employment law topics.
  • Prior experience as a litigator and/or managing litigation from an in-house position, including but not limited to participating in responses to subpoenas from state and federal authorities.

Additional details on this position

This position will initially be based at 501 Boylston St, Back Bay, before moving to a new office location at 1001 Boylston St by the mid-2025. Our hiring teams will discuss this with you during the interview stages.

The salary for this position has a range of <$124k - $187k> based on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints.
