The Position
The US Head of Emerging Therapy Areas Marketing is accountable for the strategic management, market development, and early commercialization planning for emerging assets, with a focus on integrated business planning and early marketing activity.
Leads and sets US strategic direction and integrated business planning for the designated therapy areas aligned to Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI) strategies (e.g., MASH, Alzheimer’s Disease, Liver diseases) prior to product transition to the therapeutic area lead for launch planning. Collaborates and informs pipeline, portfolio, and BD&L strategy with emerging therapeutic area-level priorities and implications as needed to support product development. Role models an enterprise mindset while influencing functional leaders to align to enterprise vision.
In coordination with global counterparts, the US Head of Emerging Therapy Areas Marketing designs and orchestrates the development of pre-launch plan in order to maximize patient, societal and business impact for the emerging therapeutic areas. Has significant decision-making authority and influence on initiatives and strategy to meet short term objectives for the designated therapy areas, aligning with overall NNI business goals.
Leads the Integrated therapeutic area and relevant brand-level strategy planning to drive the development of an insights -driven early business case including financial projections, market potential assessments, and competitive positioning strategies.
Oversee the early customer experience design considerations for implementation of market development strategies to prepare the market for upcoming brand launches by collaborating with cross-functional teams. Ensures a holistic approach across various channels to meet the needs of key customer groups, rooted in analytics and market insights. Develops strategies that account for health equity and inclusivity planning to resonate with diverse patient populations.
Significant contributor to the global strategy for the emerging therapy area portfolio by working closely with global drug development/ research & development, marketing and medical team members. Serves on cross-functional and global Extended Brand Teams and Core Commercialization Teams bringing a strong US strategic and customer experience lens, specific to market, to the table.
Leads the cross-functional emerging therapy area hub cross-functional members including Market Access, Medical Affairs, etc. Owns emerging therapy area early Brand Plan and drives cross-functional alignment and execution on key brand decisions. Leads expert advisory discussions.
Embodies and role models consistently the desired leadership behaviors, including to be innovative, take informed chances and take full ownership of emerging therapeutic area decisions.
Relationships
Reports to SVP, Commercial Strategy & Marketing. The Emerging Therapy Areas Lead is the primary interface with C/SVPs of both commercial and non-commercial functions within NNI relative to assigned therapeutic area brands, their performance and business impact. The Emerging Therapy Area Lead has a team reporting to them.
Interacts with field and home office cross-functional areas, including key stakeholders on the NNI Leadership Team that work across HR, Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Legal, Compliance, Finance, IT, and Medical. In addition, serves as a key contact and partner to global colleagues and to a host of vendors/agencies. Leads a marketing brand team (who may also be people leaders).
