Job Description

Strategic Sourcing:

  • Develops commodity strategy for assigned electronics commodities, including power management controllers (PMICs)
  • Globally sources suppliers
  • Develops new supply sources - Initiates requests for proposals/quotations (RFPs/RFQs)
  • Establishes strategic relationships with suppliers and potential suppliers
  • Negotiates supply to meet company demand requirements
  • Works with suppliers and internal supply quality engineering to resolve quality issues
  • Requires global expertise of assigned commodities
  • Ensures all business unit requirements – cost, schedule, volume, technical capability, quality and reliability – are met
  • Conducts/provides market trends assessment, competitive market and sourcing research/data which includes supplier profile/capabilities, pricing, product availability, financial and industry information on selected commodities/industries

Cost Leadership:

  • Performs contract and price negotiations and drive cost reduction to meet or exceed targets 
  • Conducts cost entitlement models
  • Guides Engineering in the Design for Cost (DFC) efforts

Development Support/Other Duties

  • Keeps suppliers informed of forecasts and changes in schedules
  • Works to resolve technical and business challenges
  • Assists in evaluation, selection and continuous improvement of alternative suppliers, particularly in direct commodity management
  • May manage cross-functional projects that have significant tactical and/or strategic impact

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s with 7+ yrs experience
  • Master’s with 5+ yrs experience
  • PhD with 2+ yrs experience
  • MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • MRP Systems (Oracle, SAP, etc.)
  • Agile
  • Problem solving & analytical skills – including should cost analysis
  • Project management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Negotiating abilities
  • Communication skills (written & verbal) & excellent interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge on relevant commodity & a passion for keeping abreast with market, industry, technology trends & conditions
