An Automotive Electronic/Electrical Diagnostic Engineer is responsible for designing and developing advanced diagnostic systems for automotive electrical and electronic components. This role involves creating diagnostic strategies, tools, and software architectures that efficiently detect, analyze, and troubleshoot electrical and electronic system issues in vehicles. The Diagnostic Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software developers, and vehicle manufacturers, to ensure seamless integration of diagnostic solutions within the vehicle’s overall electronic architecture including telematics and offboard solutions. A deep understanding of automotive electrical systems, communication protocols, and diagnostic standards is crucial.Posting Information

Position offers a starting salary range of $117,000 – $150,000 USD
Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What You Drive at DTNA
Diagnostic Architecture and Strategy –
- Define and implement Vehicle-level diagnostic architectures aligned with DTNA EE platforms and software strategies.
- Develop diagnostics concepts for ECUs, networks and vehicle systems, ensuring early integration into system design
- Establish standardized diagnostics strategies across platforms to support scalability and reuse
- Develop strategy for implementation of Diagnostics at System level and deep knowledge of Daimler Diagnostics standards and commercial vehicle is a must.
Development and integration –
- Design and develop diagnostics for EE system, including Fault monitoring, detection, isolation and reporting
- Ensure seamless integration of Daimler diagnostic functionality across onboard systems, Connectivity and offboard service environments
- Lead and collaborate with multiple cross functional teams (Aftersales, Connectivity, System Engineering) for Predictive Maintenance and Remote Diagnostics.
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to align diagnostics with system behavior and failure modes
DTNA program execution –
- Support diagnostic validation activities, including vehicle testing, manufacturing validation and service readiness
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, safety and diagnostic standards (emissions, safety, regional requirements)
- Analyze field data, warranty trends and diagnostic feedback to drive continuous improvement
Manufacturing and aftersales support –
- Enable efficient manufacturing diagnostics and end of line testing
- Support service and after-sales organizations with clear, effective diagnostic solutions that reduce repair time and warranty cost
- Contribute to data-driven quality improvement through diagnostic insights and analytics
- Represent DTNA globally for vehicle diagnostics and programming requirements, processes and tools, providing input and feedback to the global community on new designs & strategies.
- Ensure incorporation of global standards, processes & tools into the DTNA workflow in collaboration with the local TT/S ICT (Integration and Coordination team).
- Develop and improve processes to ensure quality of vehicle diagnostic requirements definition and implementation, such as through DOORS requirements templates, process documentation, and Diagnostic (including Secure Diagnostic) conformance tests.
- Provide technical support and training as necessary to other engineering teams, or downstream departments such as Product Validation, Production, Aftersales or IT.
- Mentor and cross-train to team members, including developing a delegation strategy.
Knowledge You Should Bring
- Bachelor degree in Mechatronic, Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering and 6+ years of relevant experience
